There has been significant rise in number of persons suffering from paraplegia due to spinal injuries. These persons are not given any training even by treating doctors. Thus they suffer from pressure sores, urine infections and depression and most of the times they are confined to bed. We admit paraplegics with one of their family members for a few days. We teach them to manage their urine / bowel movements, manage their pressure sores, moving from wheel chair to bed, toilet and in vehicles. We also provide counseling and motivation to lead productive lives. In Nov 2006 we held such a camp in Gujarat to guide persons who were rendered paraplegic due to earthquake in Bhuj. Such training and counseling has proved to be very useful in rehabilitation of the paraplegics.
